French Vanilla Sables

These are a refridgerator cookie, or icebox cookies.

You make the dough ahead of time and stick in the fridge for a a day up to a few weeks.

They have a very delicate vanilla flavor. Mine came out a bit floury. :( That's because i measured the flour wrong. I had been in the habit of "scooping and shaking" flour for bread, this is NOT a good way to measure flour for cookies. I also cut them a bit thick ... :( ... but other then those two things they turned out very good.

Mom liked them :)

Mother B's

So the First reciepe I made out of the book, (the library's copy), was Mother B's.

A really easy bar cookie. My family thought they were more like cake than cookies.

The special ingrediant in these cookies is Nutmeg. They were soft, and amazing. I do have to admit though that I got in a bit of a rush. I was so excited to try them that I didn't let them cool in the pan before moving them, haha won't do that again. I had lined the pan with parchment paper like the reciepe said, which helped ALOT with clean up. I took it out of the pan and put it on a cutting board, and tried to move the cookie of the parchment paper instead of letting it cool. Because they were still very warm my spatula stuck to the bottom of the cookie, and when I tried to get it off the cookie broke right around the edge of the spatula. So my cookie had a huge hole in it. I put it back together and cut it into smaller pieces then the reciepe said to, trying to hide the "evidence" lol.

We decided they tasted like the Holiday's. Be perfect for family gatherings, with a cold glass of milk, or hot cup of coffee.

Cookies

MMmmmm ... I love cookies!

so naturally when I found this cook book, Cookies Unlimited by Nick Malgieri, at the library I was Very excited!

There are 197 different reciepes (I counted), of just cookies. There are also icing and filling reciepes, and instructions for a gingerbread house.

So with the help of a few friends now and then I am going to make every cookie in the book, hopefully they all come out the way they should , fingers crossed.

The first one is Mother B's. A post on those is coming soon!
